The leisure pavilion design combines art and culture in a family-friendly space, incorporating nature and science into its artistic concept. Inspired by its Houston location, the pavilion is shaped like Saturn, with a ramp resembling Saturn's ring connecting the first and second floors. At the top, an observatory encourages nighttime nature experiences. Located next to Buffalo Bayou in Houston's theater district, the pavilion offers a stunning view of the waterfront and stars, enhancing the motif of a nightlife experience.
Using principles of sustainable architecture and materials from the local environment to create a cultural center while incorporating a renaissance style in the exterior, and taking inspiration from nature with the interior design. I made my concept a honeycomb because I wanted my building to be a place of live and community. The theater is powered by solar energy and it also includes a community garden along the entrance.
In this project, students were challenged to design an multiuse eco tower. The goal was to combine a high rise urban center with sustainable design. My personal goal in this project was to promote individual health for those who are living in the affordable housing units. I wanted to provide a connection with nature by giving each individual housing unit a porch and including a walking trail between each building.
My name is Alexis Touré, a junior architecture student enrolled at Prairie View A&M University. My academic focus centers on sustainable architecture, and since enrolling as a freshman, I have successfully designed eight architecture projects.
In an effort to contribute meaningfully to sustainable design practices, I have decided to venture into freelancing.
